MIAMI, July 23 (Our Florida Times) — Burger King is changing how it handles customer complaints — and, in some restaurants, how the manager role works.
In a Miami announcement, the chain said it is adding two service moves: a reworked manager position called the Your Way Champion and a Whopper Guarantee for customers who say their sandwich was not made right. Burger King said both changes grew out of customer feedback it gathered earlier this year by phone and text.
What is the Your Way Champion?
Burger King describes the Your Way Champion as a reimagined restaurant manager role focused on the guest experience. The company said the role includes a dedicated uniform and a point person for customers, with responsibilities that include helping oversee customization and making sure orders are handled the way guests expect.
The chain framed the role as a way to put its long-running “Have It Your Way” message into daily service. In its announcement, Burger King said the goal is for guests to feel welcomed, know their order will be made the way they asked, and have confidence that problems will be fixed.
What is the Whopper Guarantee?
The Whopper Guarantee is Burger King’s promise to remake a Whopper on the spot if it does not meet a customer’s expectations. The company also says the guest’s next Whopper will be free, with redemption handled through a QR code.
Burger King has not publicly explained every detail of the offer, including whether it applies to every Whopper variation or how long the QR code redemption lasts. The company’s announcement focuses on the main promise: if the sandwich is not right, it will be made again.
Why is Burger King doing this now?
Burger King says the changes were driven by customer feedback collected earlier in the year. The company said it opened phone lines and invited guests to share their thoughts by call and text.
Tom Curtis, president of Burger King US and Canada, said customers like the Whopper but sometimes felt it was squished or that the bun was not right. In earlier remarks, Curtis said he personally responded to customer calls as the company worked through the feedback.
The feedback campaign also led Burger King to change the Whopper itself. In February, the chain said it updated the sandwich with a better bun, creamier mayonnaise, and box or clamshell packaging instead of paper. Burger King said those updates rolled out to more than 7,000 locations nationwide, and the company’s official blog said the Whopper remained more than a quarter-pound of 100% flame-grilled beef.
What does Florida have to do with it?
Burger King’s announcement came from Miami, giving the company’s customer-service push a Florida connection. But the changes appear to be chainwide, not limited to one state or one restaurant. The company has not named any specific Florida stores or local franchise owners tied to the rollout.
What is still unclear?
Burger King has not said whether the Your Way Champion role will be used in every restaurant or only certain locations. It also has not explained how the new role could affect staffing or labor costs.
The company says the feedback effort produced thousands of calls and texts, but it has not released an independent count. And it has not provided the full terms of the Whopper Guarantee’s QR-code process.
For now, Burger King’s message is simple: improve the Whopper, fix the order faster, and give customers a clearer way to get a remake when something goes wrong.
