CALHOUN COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA, June 20 (Infinite Headlines) — Calhoun County sheriff’s deputies have arrested six people after a June 6 fight broke out at the 601 Sand Bar on the Congaree River in South Carolina, where authorities say alcohol and underage drinking played a role.

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office said the disturbance happened during the annual Sparkleberry Duck Run and was recorded on video showing multiple fights and people crowding around the riverfront sandbar.

Sheriff Thomas Summers said more than 20 people were involved and at least three were injured, with injuries ranging from swollen eyes to head injuries. He said the behavior would not be tolerated.

Summers also said alcohol was a factor and that deputies identified numerous cases of underage drinking.

Fox News reported the six arrested suspects were Brendan Bonds, Hunter Dalzell, Lucas Scott, Edward Scott, Austin Mizzell and Taylor Knudson. The sheriff’s office said they face various assault and breach-of-peace charges, but it has not publicly released a charge-by-charge breakdown.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation remains active and that detectives are still reviewing video and public submissions as they work toward additional arrests.
