WASHINGTON, June 15 (DC Times Online) — Sen. Mitch McConnell was admitted to a Washington hospital Sunday morning, and his office said the Kentucky senator was “receiving excellent care” but did not disclose why he was hospitalized.
David Popp, McConnell’s spokesperson, told CBS News on Monday that the 84-year-old senator was “fully engaged with staff on Senate business and Kentucky matters.”
McConnell’s office has not identified the hospital or provided details about his condition beyond the statement on his care.
Earlier this year, McConnell checked himself into a local hospital on Feb. 2 after experiencing “flu-like symptoms” over the prior weekend, Popp said at the time. He was discharged Feb. 10.
After that hospitalization, Popp said McConnell was feeling better and would work from home for the rest of that week on doctors’ advice.
